Manistee Fundraiser – March 1st

On Sunday, March 1, at 5:30 pm we will be hosting a special a dinner and a showing of the Sowing the Seeds of Recovery at the historic Ramsdell Inn in downtown Manistee.

Sowing the Seeds of Recovery is a special documentary film composed of a number of compelling vignettes about people working to achieve long-term recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs, though special programs provided by the Anishnaabek Healing Circle, Access to Recovery Program, which is part of a nationwide initiative to provide choice to individuals who are seeking recovery from substance abuse. The Access to Recovery Program uses a unique culturally-base vision for recovery, while also relying on tried-and-true conventional methods.

A sumptuous dinner prepared by the talented Chef Al Frye will begin at 5:30 with the presentation of Sowing the Seeds of Recovery. Members of our community will also share their stories and experiences.

This event is intended to help raise the awareness of everyone in our community, and to raise funds to benefit StonesHouse. Since 2009 StonesHouse that has opened its doors to men and women of Manistee County who are trying to recover from with drug and alcohol addiction and have no other place to turn. In 2013, StonesHouse served 54 Residents — 38 men and 16 women for a total of 2675 bed nights. A team of dedicated community leaders are working to reopen recovery houses in our town.
